Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Al Ujrat is an online marketplace designed to connect skilled Freelancers in Pakistan with Employers who need to get projects or jobs done. We provide the tools for you to find opportunities and talent easily.
Our model is unique. We focus on being a connection platform. While we charge small fees for using our platform services (like posting or bidding), the main payment for the actual work is handled directly between the Employer and the Freelancer. This gives both parties more flexibility and control.
The Employer pays the Freelancer directly, outside of the Al Ujrat platform. Once an Employer hires a Freelancer, they must arrange between themselves how the payment for the service will be made (e.g., cash, bank transfer, etc.). Al Ujrat does not process or take a commission from this main payment.
For Employers
Employers pay a small, non-refundable fee only when posting an opportunity:
Project Posting: PKR 100 for a standard post, or PKR 200 for a priority post with better visibility.
Job Posting: 1% of the maximum monthly salary offered in the job description. You can also pay extra for more prominence.
You pay your hired Freelancer directly using any method you both agree upon (e.g., cash upon completion, bank transfer, etc.). This transaction happens entirely outside of the Al Ujrat platform.
We recommend you carefully review each applicant’s profile, including their skills, work history, and any portfolio items they’ve shared. Communicating clearly about your project requirements through the Al Ujrat messaging system before hiring is also a great way to ensure they are a good fit.
Since your service agreement and payment are directly with the Freelancer, any disputes about work quality must be resolved directly with them. Al Ujrat does not mediate these disputes. We strongly advise setting clear expectations and payment terms (e.g., payment upon satisfactory completion) before the work begins.
Yes, but a cancellation penalty will apply. If you cancel a project after hiring, you will be required to pay a penalty equal to the 10% commission fee that the Freelancer paid to secure the project. This fee compensates the Freelancer for their time and the lost opportunity.
For Freelancers
Freelancers only pay fees for specific actions, which are deducted from their Al Ujrat Wallet:
Project Bidding: We deduct a 10% commission based on your bid amount, but only if you are hired for the project.
Job Application: A flat, non-refundable fee of PKR 100 per application.
Annual Verification: A PKR 100 fee once a year to keep your account verified and active.
The Wallet is your on-platform account where you deposit money. It is used exclusively to pay for Al Ujrat’s platform fees (like bidding on projects or applying for jobs). You must have funds in your Wallet to participate in opportunities.
To bid, you must have enough funds in your Wallet to cover a 10% commission on your bid amount. For example, to bid PKR 10,000 on a project, you need at least PKR 1,000 in your Wallet. This amount is put on “Hold.” If the Employer hires you, the PKR 1,000 is deducted as our fee. If not, the hold is released, and you lose nothing.
The Employer who hired you will pay you directly, according to the terms you both agreed upon. Al Ujrat is not involved in this payment.
You can request to withdraw any unused funds from your Wallet at any time. Because we process these requests manually for security, it can take up to seven (7) business days for the funds to be sent to your account.
Payments, Cancellations, and Refunds
Generally, no. Fees for posting projects/jobs and applying for jobs are non-refundable. The only exception is the Freelancer’s 10% project commission, which is covered by the Employer’s cancellation penalty if they cancel a project after hiring.
You will be compensated for the inconvenience. The Employer will be charged a cancellation penalty, and this amount will be credited to your Al Ujrat Wallet to cover the 10% commission fee you paid.
If you cancel after being hired, you forfeit the 10% commission fee. It will not be refunded to your Wallet.
Our dispute resolution is strictly limited to issues with our own Platform Fees. We do not mediate disputes about service payments, work quality, or other issues related to the agreement between the Employer and Freelancer. These must be resolved directly between the two parties.
